Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a great Thanksgiving yesterday with Ole Papa(grandpa Roger) and Great Momma(Great Grandma VL).  They boys were on their best behavior and I was thankful.

There is so much to be thankful for and to much to type but as a family we are thankful for our family and friends and staying healthy.  We are so thankful for the school system that Payton is in and how he is progressing with his speech.  We are thankful for Braxton's teachers for taking the extra time that my 3 year old needs and deserves.  We are thankful to spend the holiday with Great Momma this year and for being able to spend it with Ole Papa for the first time.   We could go on and on but just know we are Thankful and are Blessed.

Don't forget to take a moment and be thankful.

A lunch date...

Parents were invited to join their kindergartens for a picnic lunch today at school.  I had the pleasure to have lunch with my handsome Payton.  He knew I was coming but I love to see his facial expression when he sees me for the first time at school.  His whole face lights up and he winks at me.  We sat down and he had a pb&j sandwich with apple sauce and gold fish.  I brought him a bag of his favorite chips and a chocolate milk.  We got the blanket all laid out and two of his friends Aidan and Braeden come to join us.  We had a great time and talked about their mornings.  A student got sick this morning so of course that was the talk of the day.  Aidan and Braeden went on to another blanket and Payton and I got to talk more and be silly.

The best part was seeing him interact with the other children in his class and to also see how happy he is at school.

Thank you Payton for being the best lunch date.

Can you see me?

Well over the weekend the boys had the sniffles and then last night I looked into Braxton's eyes and realize that he has pink eye.  So daddy took to him to the doctor and yes he has pinkeye in both eyes.  Well at least it happened today instead of later in the week.

What can you hear me?

Braxton's school referred us to get a more in depth hearing screen because Braxton is very loud.  He seems to talk at a level of his own which is 3 notches above a normal speaking voice. School also states that sometimes he doesn't not seem to hear them when they call his name or ask him to do something.

Well we got a hearing test today and yes Braxton passed with flying colors....SO he is just ignoring his teachers and us at times and is loud just to get attention.

Oh the joys of Braxton!!!!

Update!!!

Good evening everyone.  Well lets have a quick update before the holidays.  Everyone is excited about the holidays coming up.  There are lots of plans in the works and I just pray that everything goes well.

Halloween has come and gone and Payton went as a Penguin and Braxton went as a skeleton.  They were so so cute.

The boys then decided to help me with all the leaves.  They helped by jumping and playing in the leaves.
I asked them to smile and this is what I got.  Oh well they had fun.

Well we are going to type more.  They boys are doing great in school.

Love,
PB&JJ

Success!

Well we have unclogged the issue and we have our Payton back.  How do we know that Payton is Payton...well if you haven't been around him here are the signs.  Payton is very active and if he knows you he is a talker.  When doesn't feel good he sleeps alot and he can't find the words for what he is trying to say.  Well last night he helped me make meatballs and was talking back....So yes he is back to normal.

What a day!!!

I would like to start the post by saying that this is a blog about my kids.  I will be honest and opened about everything and this post is about POOP!  Yep you read it right. So if for so reason POOP is not a topic you dont' want to read about then please skip my post today.

OK well this all started over a month ago when we noticed Payton was not keeping his normal bathroom schedule.  As parents you become in tuned with your children and know when something is not on.  Well we took Payton to the dr a first time over a month ago because he was constipated.  Well the dr told us to give him a certain number of miralax and we did get some out of him.  Well as parents we thought it was all.

Fast forward to today...Parent has not been acting right and continued to decide not to eat because his belly hurt he told us.  Well we had enough and called and got him in this morning.  As a mother I want to be there when the dr is seeing him and I want to be able to ask questions.  Well after a check we were ordered to get a stomach xray and blood work.   I went back to work and waited for the call from the dr.  Finally we got the call and the dr told us our son was completely full of poop.  His blood work was normal.  We were so happy to hear that part but now we have to clean Payton's system out.  So we got orders again on how to accomplish this and we are already got Operation Clean in order.

He took his first poop and is starting to feel better.

As a parents we never want to see our kids not feeling well and I hate when I don't know how to help them.  I hate running to doctor but I feel as parents you know when something is wrong.  I am glad we found a Dr that is wonderful.

Fall!

Well I know it has been two months since a post and I apologize.  A lot has happen so I hope you are ready for this!

Braxton:
  • Had to get three stitches by his left eye because he fell off our bed and hit the side table.
  • Got in trouble at school for the first time because his speech therapist asked him to be quiet and after her didn't she told him that if he didn't stop talking he wouldn't be able to go out and play.  Braxton told her "who cares" and continued to be loud.  He had to sit out for five minutes before playing.
  • Loves to be outside and play and be loud.
  • One activity he loves to do now is sing.  SING is more like it.  It is so cute.  He sings so many songs now.

Payton:
  • Loves school and did get in trouble once for playing with his friend Aidan in the bathroom instead of doing their business and getting out.
  • Played fall soccer and loved it.  He was a great goalie and scored a goal at his last game.
  • Is writing his name and all of his letters.
  • His favorite thing is singing his RED song.  They are learning to spell colors and he loves to sing R-E-D RED song.
  • He is still shy when we see his classmates at the store and will not say hi.

Our beloved poodle Lily passed away on Monday and it was a tough night for the boys.  We explained to them that Lily had passed away and that she went to heaven.  Braxton was ok with it but made sure to tell us that he was very sad that Lily was gone.  Payton took it harder but I believe it was because he understood it more.  He cried and asked when Lily was coming back when we told him never he got more upset until he asked if Lily was with Great Grandpa.  The only other person that has passed in his life that he can remember is Great Grandpa VL.  Once we told him that yest Great Grandpa and Lily were together and playing ball then we was better.  They are still sad but it is getting better.

Both of the boys are growing up and Jeff and I love to see them learn new things.  I will post recent pictures this weekend.

Thank you for stopping by.

FAST....I AM GOING FAST....

Imagine this...Jeff and I decided to take the screw out of the green jeep power wheel so it would go fast.  We thought the boys were ready and so we did it and didn't tell them what we were doing and so Braxton and Payton that we had to fix it.

Braxton likes to hog the power wheel and so he got into it and put the pedal to the floor and to his surprise the jeep was going faster than he ever knew it could go.  Braxton had the biggest smile on his fast and kept yelling to Jeff and I that he was "GOING FAST".  He would stop for a minute and say...."Dad you know I am going fast?"  and Jeff would say yes and he would put his foot on the pedal and away he would go with the biggest smile on his fast and yelling fast...fast....fast.....and laughing with excitement.

Payton got to drive once but had more fun trying to beat the new super fast jeep by pedaling his bike fast.  The big wheel won...

Fast....FAst...FASt...FAST>>>>>>

Pink Milk?

Payton came home today from school and told his dad that they finally got pink milk.  Jeff asked him what flavor was the pink milk and Payton told him strawberry.  Payton continued to say that he liked pink milk and that it was good for his snack.

Braxton's day went well and he still does not like GIRLS....I am starting to wonder if the girls like him and won't leave him alone and that is why he is so adamant about not liking girls.

First full week of School...

Braxton started school on Monday and he did cry a little when he had to leave daddy on Monday and Tuesday but on Wednesday he was hoping out the van and ready to go.  Yes it has only been a week but Braxton has decided that he does not like GIRLS.  It is funny to hear him tell me that he does not like girls except his mom, momma and ole momma.  He is loving school and we are so excited.

Payton had his first full week of school and has loved it also.  He can't believe that he gets to have two chocolate milks a day-one for snack and one for lunch.  He loves to talk about what he had for lunch.  The biggest change is that Payton has been experiencign new things and is having problems finding the words to explain what he did at school that day.  He usually says YOU DO IT...which means that he doesn't know how to explain it.  We are helping with as much as we can and just try not to get him upset when he can't tell us.  He loves school and that is all the matters.

As a family we are getting on a schedule and just trying to get use to both boys being in school.  Jeff and I both love hearing the stories from the boys and seeing how excited they are to go to school.  Lets just hope that this last.

Great Start!

Not that I was worried or anything but school started on Thursday and we all took Payton to school.  He starts at 8:15 sharp and I thought I was going to be an emotional wreck but Nope I did my son proud and didn't cry at all.  I did tear up a little but what mother wouldn't.

Payton asked that I make his favorite breakfast biscuit and gravy so I did.  I think he was a little nervous because he didn't eat as much as normal but he didn't let on.  We made the long block and a half walk and finally standing outside of his classroom when we found his locker.  Of course we put his stuff away and walked in to meet the teacher, Mrs. Stevens.  She said hello to Payton and he said hi.  We found his name which told him where he would be sitting.  He sat down and we continued to take pictures.  I promise we were not the only parents acting like fools.  We kissed him goodbye and he waved.  I had to look in there to make sure he wasn't scared and he winked at us and we left.  We were asked to stay with all the other kindergarten parents in the cafeteria and so we did.  They had donuts and juice.  Braxton wasn't to happy about all the people but we waited out the 45 miutes that felt like 2 hours to me.  At 9 o'clock sharp we went to get him and he was happy as can be.  Payton said he had a great time and that they read a book.  He was excited to go back on Friday.

Friday was our first normal school day.  We as a family are trying to get organized and make sure that we are prepared for everything.  Payton was there from 8:15 until 3:05.  It was also going to be his first hot school lunch.  I of course was nervous and checked in with Jeff after he dropped him off and also when he picked him up.  I reminded Jeff not to forget Payton.  I didn't have too.

Payton's after school report included that they had gym class and he ate almost all of his hamburger for lunch and cookies, peaches and cookies.  He has never used the word peaches but he did this day.  He was excited and also very tired.  He had a great first full day of school and as parents Jeff and I couldn't be more pleased.

BRAXTON UPDATE!!!
Braxton starts school on Monday and will be going everyday for 2 1/2 hours.  I am more worried about his teachers than we are for him.  He is very much an 3 1/2 year old that doesn't like to share.  So please say an extra prayer for his teachers and his peers.  We will let you know how it goes on Monday.

So as you can see we have had a lot of first and are looking for more.

Where did the summer go?

In one week we will be putting Payton to bed knowing that he starts kindergarten the next morning.  He is so excited and can't wait to use his new Clone Wats backpack.  He is all set and ready to go.

Braxton will start preschool after Labor day.  He will be going on Tuesday and Thursday for a half a day.  He is very excited but I think he doesn't really know what is going to happen.  So I am expecting him to have a rough start but I hope he will surprise us.

As a family we have had a great time this summer and looking forward to the fall.

I hope to blog more and I am sorry that we have been slacking.

Whats going on?

So what has been happening.  Well teeball is over now and I hope Payton gets to play soccer this fall.  Teeball was a wonderful experience for him and most importantly he had fun.  Now they are hanging out with daddy for the summer and every day is an adventure.  Here are some pictures.

Wow....

So I realize it has been a while since we have posted about our life.  Well alot has been happening and I promise I will try to blog more and with our schedule getting into its summer schedule we should have more time.

Well we have celebrated cousin Jacob going into the high school next year.  We spent Memorial Day in Wisconsin and we are excited for all the family and friends that are starting to expand their families.  It is going to be an exciting summer, fall and winter.  So with all of this said let me tell you about our two boys.  The biggest thing we have noticed is the differences in P and B.

Payton turned five in April and he has started to come out of his shell still.  He is still shy but he likes to help and I feel that he is laid back and loves to be a funny.  He loves to tell me that I am silly and loves to draw.  He likes to make rainbows, fish and smiley faces.  He is still into his rainbows.  The first day of summer break I came home from work and the first thing he told me was "I didn't go to school today" and then he looked at his dad.  I believe he thought his dad was going to get into  trouble for not taking him to school but I explained and he was ok then.

Braxton...well what can I say...he is a very in your face three year old.  He loves to be into everything and usually is.  He is always moving or talking and never stops.  He is very opposite his brother and I am told by MaMa Lopez that he is a mini me.  I don't believe I could have ever been like this.  I think his favorite word is butt head and did I forget to say that he is LOUD.

So that is a snippet of Payton and Braxton.  Jeff and I are so very blessed and love and cherish our boys.

Well

The weather is sucking and we are unable to get tee ball games in.  It sucks and Payton is bumbed whenhe can't go.  He is really really enjoying it.

What a day!

We had our IEP for Payton today to get him ready to go to kindergarten.  Well it was great.  He will have speech for 100 minutes a week so about 20 minutes everyday.  Everyone was so nice.  I think we are really going to like this speech therapist.

We also have a new addition to the family.  A mommy bird made a nest in one of my flower pots and there were three eggs in it and one has hatched.  Payton has loved seeing the eggs and now like to see the baby bird from a far.  No worries we are not letting him get close.  We hope the other two will hatch soon.

Well that is it from our house.   We had a great day and looking forward to tomorrow.

Happy Thursday to you all.

So blessed!

Have you ever stepped back and look at what you have right in front of you.   I think most of us just live in the moment and never think about this.  Tonight I was outside with Payton and Braxton and took a step back and took a mental snap shot.  I wanted to remember the smile on Braxton's face when he was riding his tricycle up and down the sidewalk.  The way Payton runs when he sees a car and then laughs.  How they both want my attention at the same time and get mad when I can only listen to one of them at a time.  P and B are growing up so fast and I feel like I don't take a step back and look at them now and realize they will only be three and five for so long.   As a family I believe we realize how blessed we are by everything we have and the family that we are and I feel blessed that we will be able to grow as a family.  No matter what we are all blessed and have to remember to step back and appreciate the moments a little more.  Don't forget how blessed you are.

A day in the life of PBJJ!

So what is going on with our family?  Glad you asked.  We have been busy with tee ball and school and just the normal activities of a three and five year old.  Would we have it any other way?  No way.  Here are some pictures.

Happy 5th Birthday to Payton!

Payton is officially five today.  He is so excited to be 5.  We had a party on Saturday but we are also going out for supper where they will sing to him and make him wear a hat.  He asked for it.   Happy Birthday to my first born.  You are a blessing.  We love you!

Lots happening here....

Well I apologize for the lack of posting the past month or so.  Life is good and I decided that I would blog an update about the boys.

Braxton...Turned 3 on February 8th.  He wanted a sport theme party so we had a nice get together with family and friends.  He was funny because when he opened the gifts and if they happen to be clothes he would just toss them to the side.  Most were clothes because when people asked what he needed I said clothes because if you have been to our house you would notice that we have a lot lot lot lot lot of toys.  Braxton also had out patient surgery to correct a problem he was having.  He did great and was back to normal after 24 hours.   He had his three year old appointment and he was 42 inches tall and 35 lbs.  He is off the chart for his height and around the 80% for weight.  We were told he is a little thin for his height but he is healthy and strong and that is all that matters.  If you have been around Braxton you would know that he eats tons but plays very hard and he is just burning it off.   Jeff and I both feel that our "baby" is growning up way to fast.  In the last month we realized that he can zip his own coat, dress himself completely and would rather not have help from either one of us.  He is going to the bathroom by himself and yes we are still waiting for the poop in the potty but hey he is doing great.  He was riding a big boys bike tonight and loved it.  He talks tons and really is a happy child.  He loves to be outside and loves to help us clean and to be honest he is a joy to be around.

Payton will be turning 5 years old in April and has a spirit about him that just makes you laugh and smile.  Yes if you are not around him a lot you may have issues because he is still a "special" needs child but he is a jokester and loves to push my buttons.  The other night I asked him a question and he said "DUH mom".  I guess it was a silly question.  He is starting tee ball and had his first practice and at first he was shy but then he started having fun.  He is doing great in school and loves craft time.  We are gearing him up for kindergarten next year and yes there are still times when he struggles and as parents that is hard for us but overall he is also a happy and funny child.

Jeff and I were talking tonight at dinner and now seeing Braxton and his development we just didn't know how delayed Payton was as a three year old.  It is amazing to hear Braxton tell us a story and sing songs.  Payton didn't have the ability to do that.  Even though Payton was unable to do that he found other ways to communicate and he learned a skill that most soon to be five year olds don't have and that is a sense of humor.  We love Payton and Braxton so much and are reminded every day what a blessing they are.  We give thanks every day for the gift that He gave us and the ability to be parents to two of the most amazing boys every.  Don't forget to give Thanks.

Happy 3rd Birthday Braxton!

Yes Braxton turned three on Monday.  My mom turns 56 today.  It is a busy week for us in the house but all is well.  Will post some birthday party pictures soon.

Can you believe it?

That Braxton is goign to be three on the eigth of February.  He is a typical soon to be three year old and can't decide what kind of party he wants.  We started it with Chipmunks, the Handy Manny, then sports theme, and nowhe likes dinosaurs.  So what will the cake have on it?  I don't know.  You will have to see the pictures to fine out.

All is well

I know it has been a bit since our last update.  All is well and we are just starting the new year by remembering what is the most important to us and that is family.  No matter how busy we get with work, school and other things we have to remember that family comes first.  We love and miss all of our family we are unable to see very often.  We think of you alot.

Where did it all begin.....

This is a blog about the lives of a non-traditional midwestern family. I am a full time working mother of two beautiful boys and a wife to a stay at home husband. We were married on June 15, 2002 and were blessed with two boys, Payton (4-19-05) and Braxton (2-08-07).
