Wow...sorry it has been so long!

Sorry it has been so long. So here is a recap since Halloween.

Braxton turned 9 months this month and had his check-up he was 31 inches and 22 lbs and 15 oz. He is a big boy. He has 11 teeth and we are still counting. He is sitting up on here own and he loves it when his brother plays with him. He loves to grab anything that is in front of him. He is still eating baby food but loves to eat what we are eating also. He gets upset if he does not get a bit and he will let you know.

Payton went for a 2 1/2 year check up because we are still worried about his speech development. It has gotten better but not where we think it should be. The doctor is sending us for a hearing screen just to make sure that everything is ok on that front. Both Payton, Jeff and I get frustrated when we don't know what he wants and we hope that we get some answers soon and we are looking to get hims some speech therapy.

Jeff and I are still trucking along. We are both exhausted when we go to bed to keep up with the boys. It is a blessing to have both of them and exciting to see them grow up. It is sad also because Braxton isn't much of a baby anymore and becoming more and more independent. We can't believe that Braxton will turn 1 in less than 3 months and Payton will turn 3.

We are getting ready for the holidays and celebrating that this is Braxton's first Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Well that is all the news from the Vander Logt's. I am so sorry that is has been so long and I will have to put up new pictures.

Halloween

Payton and Braxton had fun their first halloween. Payton was scared to trick or treat at first but his cousin Jacob helped him and at the end he really enjoyed it. Braxton didn't know what was happening other than his mom putting him in a funny costume. He was a little under the weather because he is cutting his stomach teeth now and they hurt.

Cold Weather

Well I think fall has finally arrived. It was 38 degrees when I left for work. I can't believe it. Halloween is coming up and we still do not know what Payton is going to be. OH well I know it will all work out. Braxton is starting to eat more table foods and enjoying them. He has gotten so big. Payton is just being his normal cute self. He is definetly talking more and we can actually understand him most of the time. He loves pointing out his body parts and telling us what they are. His favorite is patting his head and saying "head" and then he moves on to his eyes and ears. He still likes to be naked most of the time and we are working on this. In Florida that was ok but not here in Illinois. Jeff is going to another bears game this weekend. I don't think he minds us moving to Illinois at all. As a whole we love having family around and being able to see them more then two times a year. Life is good for us right now.

Weekend

Well Grandma Marj visited us in Illinois for the first time since we moved to Illinois. We had a great visit. Of course she brought gifts for the boys and Braxton and Payton were happy to see her. We did lots of shopping on Saturday and then had a great supper prepared by Jeff of course. Braxton wasn't in the greatest of moods we think he is teething again but he was all smiles before Grandma left. All in all I think Grandma and the boys were glad to visit and spend sometime together.

Well nothing is really going on in the Vander Logt world. The boys have been pretty good. Payton is loving the weather and going outside to play. The other day though it was only 40 degrees and he thought he could go outside in just a diaper. He is definetly still in the Florida mind set. Braxton is trying to traditional crawl but then he finds out he can army crawl so he is in between the two. Of course the Chicago Bears lost and Jeff is not happy with them. I don't see a super bowl appearance this year. Well I am doing fine. Just enjoying work and love being home with my boys.

Wow pumpkins

Well Payton and I went to the pumpkin patch today and he picked out a pumpkin. He was over tired. We were hoping to take Jeff and Braxton but Braxton was sleeping and Jeff was getting over the Bears lost. We went with our good friends the Wells. Well it was a good hike but as your can tell by the pictures we were successful. I had to share Braxton's shining face also.

Where has the time gone!!!

Well this month Payton turns 2 1/2 and Braxton is 8 months. Where are my little babies. Payton is so independent and I am reminded that I was the same way. He doesn't want any help doing anything really. Braxton is just starting to move around and is really showing his personality now. He is different from his brother and it is neat to see him evolve into his own person. Jeff and I realize how trully blessed we are to have two great boys. Will there be third, we don't know. That is something we are still debating about. It wouldn't be to have a "girl" because I wouldn't be trying for a certain gender it would be us expanding our family. I think we are nuts sometimes when I think of having three and think we should just get a puppy but I think we should wait until the boys are a little older. So it comes down to this. I love my boys and wouldn't trade my life with anyone.

Cars

Well if you don't know already Payton loves Disney Cars. That would be lightning McQueen. Well yesterday it was on a movie channel we get so he watched it once before I got home and twice after I got home and then threw a fit when we wouldn't watch it again. Payton is out of control. Braxton just watches as Payton tries to get the tv remote and then Payton will watch the tv waiting an hoping for his precious cars to come on the screen. I think that if we don't start it then he won't want it continuously throughout the day. I don't know about you but I can only take so much of watching the same thing over and over. I am sure I did the same thing when I was 2 1/2.

Cleaning Rant

Well I don't understand why I can't keep my house clean. Payton makes messes but he usually cleans them up or at least half way. Braxton is just starting to become mobile and only plays with what he brother has. Jeff well he does the dishes and he helps with the laundry and I appreciate that but for some reason I can not keep my house clean still.

Like on Saturday for instance I cleaned becasue we were having company over and it looked great and then Sunday morning I wake up and there is stuff everywhere. I have to come up with a better system because right now it is really frustrating me to no end. ARGH!

Everyone laughs at me at work because two times a week I clean my area and even wipe it down and I tell them that this is the only place that I am able to keep the way I want because at home it is always dirty. Any have any useful tips I would really appreciate it. I am done with having a dirty house.

what a weekend

Well I had my 10 year high school reunion and it was fun.
Saturday there was suppose to be a cookout but when I drove by there was no one there but the clique that I didn't care for in high school so why would I spend time with them now.

We figured out Braxton's sleeping problem. He was napping to much during the day so we took one of them out and guess what. He slept through the night. I am so happy.

Payton is really talking more and I am so glad. He spent a whole day with Grandma and Grandpa and had a great time. He is so into cars that I had to pick him up another couple of shirts. He won't wear anything but Car shirts. SO we got him some car stick up for his walls in his room and he was so excited.

Well that is all the news from the Vander Logts. We are trying to figure out what Payton is going to be for Halloween.

Where did Payton learn to walk? and Why isn't Braxton sleeping thru the night.

Well it finally happened Payton was leaving the living room and tripped and smacked his head on the stair going out of the living room to the kitchen. I have to say he has to have a hard head he only cried for 30 seconds and then was running around again. It scared me to death and it didn't split open but boy does he have a goose egg up there. SO last night I had to wake him up every 2 hours to make sure that he was ok. I wish he would slow down. So that was my night.

Braxton has decided to be stubborn and not sleep thru the night. He was doing so good but now he is getting up every 2 to 3 hours. I usually let him cry it out but it still wakes me. I can't wait to get over this. I thought about having another child but I like my sleep.

I will post pictures later of Paytons horn. LOL

10 years ago I was in high school

I have my ten year high school reunion in a two weeks and I just decided to sit down and think about what I have done and accomplished and what life has brought me.

1. Well I graduated college and was a decent division one athlete. .
2. I met my husband
3. Able to be a successful division one track coach
4. Had my two sons Payton and Braxton.

I don't regret any decisions that I have made through the last ten years. There have been times of feeling lost and not knowing what decisions but everything has happened the way God has wanted it to be and I can't question that.

What a big boy

Well since we moved to Illinois alot has changed in Payton's world and all for the better. He has had some speech delay but we are making a lot of progress. His favorite word is Mom and I hear it from the time I get home from work until he goes to bed. He loves cereal and will prepare it himself he just needs help getting a bowl down.

Where did it all begin.....

This is a blog about the lives of a non-traditional midwestern family. I am a full time working mother of two beautiful boys and a wife to a stay at home husband. We were married on June 15, 2002 and were blessed with two boys, Payton (4-19-05) and Braxton (2-08-07).
